Teacher arrested after breaking pupil’s hand
The teacher that used a steal pipe to break a 12-year-old girl's hand has been arrested.
The teacher who was arrested earlier this week for breaking a 12-year-old girl’s hand with a steal pipe was granted bail after a brief appearance in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court today.
A 12-year old pupil from Munsieville is still suffering from a broken hand after being punished by the teacher for incorrectly answering a math question.
The pupil was punished on 7 May by a teacher from Munsieville who broke her hand with a steel pype.
The incident had been reported to the school principal and a case was opened with the police’s Family Violence, Child Abuse and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS) at the Krugersdorp Police Station.
In a telephonic interview with the mother of the pupil, she told the News that her daughter is not doing too good.
She confirms that she received pain medication for the fracture but there are no talks from doctors about reconstructing the badly broken hand.
She has also told the News that since the incident the school has not reacted to the claims or made contact with her after she met up with the principal.
“The school did not even phone to hear how my daughter is doing,” said the mother.
The teacher who was released on bail will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court again on 23 July.
