Has government given prostitution the nod?

Residents and motorists are surprised that the Department of Health seems to be condoning prostitution.

An advertising campaign by the Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) has motorists scratching their heads in disbelief.

The bone of contention is a message on a billboard that reads ‘I like to give my clients pleasure, not HIV’.

The life-size controversial message on the advertising billboard can be seen on Voortrekker Road after the Wright Street intersection at Action Ford.

Residents of Krugersdorp are up in arms after the misleading message was put up a few weeks ago.

Many residents have complained to the News as they believe the black-and-white billboard with red accents promotes prostitution.

Krugersdorp’s women of the night; a sad reality

The in-your-face message on the billboard has been put up only four kilometres away from the prostitute and drug hub of Krugersdorp – Luipaard and Sivewright Streets.

Although the message is loud and clear, residents feel the GDoH is endorsing prostitution in a town already fighting numerous social ills.

The News has contacted the GDoH’s spokesperson regarding the controversial message on the billboard, which clearly has their stamp of approval in the left-hand corner.

The News is awaiting official comment from the department.
