A foreman at the Krugersdorp Police Station took on the ultimate human race.
Azwihangwisi Wilson Maguru, 64, is a passionate runner who has been a part of the Krugersdorp Police team since 2007.
Earlier this year he ran in one of the toughest races on the marathon calendar – the Voet van Afrika in Bredasdorp in the Western Cape – as a member of the SAPS Gauteng team.
“We are very pleased that the SAPS Gauteng team performed well,” Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police said proudly.

Another great achievement for Azwihangwisi was when he completed the Comrades Marathon, known as the ultimate human race, in just seven hours at the end of May. The 2015 Comrades was his 11th completed Comrades.
Azwihangwisi has been running for the past 39 years, and has collected a number medals and cups to prove his strength in the sport.
This fit athlete joined the SAPS 28 years ago as a general worker.
“The Krugersdorp Cluster commander Major General Mateisi wishes him well on his success. May he continue doing what he loves and encourage other members to follow in his footsteps. The sky is the limit for this passionate athlete,” concluded Mashale.
