Fire grabs police’s eye; woman dies
A 73-year-old woman declared dead on scene after fire broke out.
The cause of the fire that claimed a woman ,73, in Mindalore yesterday morning is still unknown.
Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, a spokesperson at the Krugersdorp Police Station said police officers were busy with their early morning routine patrols when they noticed what seemed to be a flat on fire in Impala Road.
“The officers immediately responded to the scene and on arrival realised that a townhouse unit was on fire. Police gained entry to the burning unit and managed to rescue a man, the son of the woman who succumbed in the fire.”
Mashale said an urgent call out was sent to paramedics and the Mogale City Emergency Services who also responded to the scene.
After the fire was extinguished the body of the elderly woman was recovered inside the house and she was declared dead by paramedics on the scene.
Sincere condolences to the family of the victim was sent by the Community Policing Forum Community and members of the public.
The Krugersdorp Police have opened an inquest docket.
