Traffic was held up on the corner of Shannon Road and Bell Street in Noordheuwel after a car rolled over onto its roof after hitting another car.
According to Mogale City’s traffic police, the driver did not stop at the stop sign and sped into another car that crossed the road before him. The driver who was hit, sustained no injuries but his car had to be towed away.
Both Mogale City Traffic Police and the Sector 4 Community Policing Forum (CPF) were on the scene.
Sector 4’s CPF first aid responders helped the driver of the overturned car and Netcare 911 later took him away in the ambulance. The fire department was called out for possible entrapments, but luckily their services were not needed.
“We found the car on its roof. The driver only complained about a stiff back. He was taken to hospital,” a traffic officer said.
A bystander said he heard a loud crashing noise as the car rolled onto its roof.
The scene was cleared by 1pm with no serious injuries reported.
