Bakkie speeds into a group of bystanders

A bakkie ploughed through a group of people after the brakes allegedly failed.

Multiple people were injured when a driver lost control of his vehicle and drove into a group of people earlier this morning.

Members of the Sector 3 Community Policing Forum along with emergency services responded to a scene on Helen Road after a bakkie drove through the group of people walking aside the road at approximately 7 am.

It is believed that the driver in the Ford Cortina bakkie lost control of the vehicle when the brakes allegedly failed, causing him to speed through the group of people on the side of the road and crashing into a yard nearby.

Two of the injured people were taken to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment while the others received treatment on scene for minor injuries obtained in the incident.
