Doctors symposium tackle major ailments

Somewhat 250 doctors were at this year's Netcare symposium held at Misty Hills.

Hundreds of doctors attended the annual Netcare CPD Symposium at Misty Hills last month.

The News was invited to attend a briefing session of the symposium, which gave doctors from different hospitals the chance to share new and interesting information and findings, and network in a beautiful setting while enjoying fine cuisine.

The overview of the new private hospital in Pinehaven was discussed, which gave doctors a good platform to start from.

Medical topics such as non-surgical lower back pain, Netcare’s Ethics, occupational therapy, contraception, allergies, health and law ethics as well as diabetes and cholesterol were discussed.

Another informative session was presented by the Netcare Transplant Division. They discussed transplant pathways and the law regarding transplants while Dr J Fredericks, a neurologist ended off the day with a talk about infantile colic.

Other topics discussed the following day touched on subjects such as how medical schemes accumulate reserves, reflux perspective, the shoulder joint unlocked, the legal aspects and ethics in blood transfusion and appropriate use of blood products, hop arthroscope, what’s new in allergies, the legal aspects pertaining to medical practice and audiology problems.

Each doctor was presented with a certificate for their participation in the weekend symposium.
