Cyclist seriously injured in Magalies

Paramedics stabilised the seriously injured female at the scene.

A 37-year-old female cyclist was seriously injured in a cycling accident on an off-road track in Magaliesburg on Saturday morning.

Reports from the scene is that a group of cyclists was riding along a path on the mountain when the cyclist fell and injured herself.

Netcare 911 paramedics had to be assisted by the Magaliesburg fire and rescue services with a 4X4 vehicle to get up the rocky terrain with their equipment to where the patient was lying.

Paramedics stabilised the seriously injured female at the scene and after immobilising her on a trauma board, they loaded her on board the Netcare one Medical helicopter.

The patient was then airlifted to a specialised facility under the constant care of an advanced life support paramedic.
