Three men injured in explosion
Two men were airlifted after a circuit breaker exploded.
Two workers were airlifted in a serious condition to Millpark Hospital after a circuit breaker which they were working on exploded, earlier this morning.
The third worked was transported per ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment for serious injuries sustained.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and were immediately ushered to the patients at a lodge near the R563 near Maropeng in the Cradle of Humankind.
“On assessment, paramedics found that all three men had sustained severe burn wounds to the majority of their bodies,” Russel Meiring, ER24 Spokesperson said.
Paramedics quickly began their treatment and provided the patients with advanced life support interventions.
“Once treated, two patients were airlifted to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment, one by the ER24 helicopter and the other by a private medical helicopter. The third patient was transported by ambulance.”
The cause of the explosion is yet unknown as local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
