[VIDEo] Seniors again treated to breakfast
For the fourth year, Noordheuwel Pick&Pay has made one morning a very special one.
Every year, over 200 elderly persons are treated to a complimentary breakfast at Noordheuwel Pick&Pay. But this year, more than 450 guests showed up.
“We do this every year. It is a way of saying thank you to their continuous support as the centre’s customers throughout the year,” Heather Kantor, landlord of the centre, told the News.
For the fourth year, a Wimpy breakfast, a goodie bag and a slice of home baked cake were given to every senior that came to enjoy a morning out. Terra Terblanche Boereorkes entertained the happily dancing crowd.
“The band regularly plays in the centre. They are quite good,” Heather added.
An 81-year-old Bes Brink, who was among the many enjoying her bacon-and-egg-breakfast and said that this was one of the highlights of her year. Bes has been attending the event every year and plans on doing so long into the future.
With chatter and laughter filling the room, Hansie Pieterse, Pick&Pay’s store manager, smiled at the crowd.
“We let our elderly customers know in advance about the day and on the morning we are packed,” he said.
The senior breakfast takes place in November every year.
