Lions host events specially for disabled
All participants received a medal, cold drinks, boerewors rolls and sweets after the highly anticipated event.
The Lions Club of Krugersdorp held two successful events where the disabled community of Krugersdorp was recognised for the role it plays in society.
The first event, an annual night race for people with disabilities, was held in conjunction with the Khosa Running Club.
Those in wheelchairs were assisted through a shortened time trial route and those who could, used whatever aids were needed to assist them.
130 people with disabilities from Gateway Village, Gateway School, Logwood Village and West Rand Association for People with Disabilities (WRAPD) took part.
All participants received a medal, cold drinks, boerewors rolls and sweets after the highly anticipated event.
“As always all participants and those assisting enjoyed the evening,” Lions member Derek Carter said.
The Lions hosted a second event, an early Christmas dinner and a morning of musical entertainment at the WRAPD.
The band Rhapsody entertained the residents and members of the Lions were entertained by the choir from the centre.
“Great fun was had by all and it was expressed by all that this event should be done on an annual basis.”
