[VIDEO] Father Christmas made an emergency stop in Krugersdorp
Father Christmas was escorted through town by local CPF patrollers on an emergency visit.
Sirens and a bakkie full of Christmas gifts made its way through Krugersdorp as Father Christmas decided to make an emergency stop in town.
The Community Policing Forum of Krugersdorp launched its very first Charity Toy Patrol where patollers along with partners in crime fighting visited various non profit organisations in Krugersdorp to drop off Christmas gifts and treats.
CPF Members of Sector 3, 4, 7, 8 and 10 along with Thompsons Security, Mogale City’s Traffic Department and Public Safety, Netcare 911 and Mogale City’s Emergency Management Services met early on 12 December to patrol through town.
Father Christmas along with his little helper, handed out gifts to less fortunate children at the different organisations.
The gifts collected and donated included skateboards, soft toys, cars, dolls, beads, books, crayons and much more.
With sirens blaring, the patrol kicked off at Thompsons Security headquarters where the group made their way to The Bethany House Trust, Ikusasa Shelter, House of Jade, The Cradle of Hope, Lappies and Lallies Kleuterskool, Mug and Tree Organisation and the Salvation Army.
Once they stopped at each organisation, the sirens of the fire truck, ambulance and other vehicles were back switched on to let the children know that Father Christmas has arrived.
Thompson’s general manager Hans van Niekerk played the role of Father Christmas.
“We are extremely thankful and our deepest appreciation goes out to each and every person who reached into their hearts and pockets to donate and participated in this effort. The Charity Toy Patrol would not have been possible without the involvement and support of the community. Seeing the faces of the children light up with joy was priceless and worth every effort put into this event.
“CPF patrollers would like to wish each and every community member a blessed festive season and a prosperous and safe new year,” said CPF 10, Vice Secretary, Lindie Breed.
