Suspect found hiding in dustbin
Two suspects almost got away but local CPF members were determined to catch them.
A resident called in a code-red alert over the Community Policing Forum (CPF) two-way radio system resulting in a manhunt being launched in search of attempted house breaking suspects.
Two suspects were arrested and handed over to the police after they attempted to break into a house in Skreen Street in Kenmare on 16 January at around 3am.
Patrollers of the Sector 8 CPF along with their partners in fighting crime, Dowry Security and EPR reacted to the call out of the two suspects spotted in a property in Kenmare.
Immediately the patrollers along with the reaction units searched the area for the suspects who fled by foot.
The first suspect was found hiding in another residence’s yard in Clonmell Street, somewhat two streets further down.
In the quest to find the second suspect, a resident heard a funny noise coming from a dustbin located down the road in Donegal Street.
Frightened the resident kicked the dustbin, causing the suspect to jump out and attempting to escape once again.
However, the suspect was apprehended by members on the scene and was later handed over to police along with his accomplice.
