Earlier this week, a 36-year-old suspect was arrested for a house robbery incident dating back to last year.
The suspect and his accomplice allegedly robbed a woman in her house in De Wet Street, Krugersdorp North on 28 July 2015.
The detectives were following up on information received from the community and the suspect was arrested and charged.
“It is alleged that the 72-year-old complainant was home alone when the suspects pressed the intercom at the gate and asked to see a person who is known to her. She then proceeded and opened the gate for the two unknown males,” Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, said.
One of the male suspects then requested to use her bathroom which she gave permission for. While waiting for him to finish, she heard drawers opening.
She went to investigate and found the suspect going through the drawers.
Suddenly the second suspect entered the house and both threatened to kill her if she screamed for help.
The two suspects managed to steal jewelery and other valuables from the house before fleeing.
At about 9pm that night, Krugersdorp Detectives received information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects and were able to arrest one suspect at his home. There they recovered the vehicle that was used in the commission of the crime.
The accomplice, however was arrested earlier this week and is expected to make a brief appearance in court.
“Krugersdorp police appreciate all the information received from the community,” Mashale concluded.
