Police parade in the streets for a special prayer event to kick off the year.
A street in Kagiso was taken over by a sea of blue as members from the Krugersdorp Police Cluster celebrate a prayer day.
Pastor Irene Tshifhiwa, an African Prophet who is known for connecting with the holy spirit, paid a special visit to the Kagiso Police station on 23 January.
“Having her visit our station was a blessing and an honour,” Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Solomon Sibiya, said.
The police’s brass band parade down the street for a special police event.
She was welcomed by a special police parade along with the police band leading the way to the station.
The pastor was given the opportunity by the Krugersdorp Cluster Commander to bless each officer in a special ceremony.
Later the members headed to a local stadium in a beautiful convoy led by the police’s drill squad and brass band where the pastor was to address the members of the community.
As Cluster Commander, Major General Anna Mateisi idealises strong Christianity values and therefore the event commenced with a strong hymn.
The pastor prayed for both the police and community members who she praised for working together.
Members of the community were pleasantly surprise when the drill squad took to the stage and harmoniously sang for them.
“The day was a good time to strengthen the relationship between police and their community. It was time to restore hope and build trust. Residents were able to see that police officials are also human, some sensitive and other with a sense of humour and also have loved ones like everyone else,” Sibiya explained.

The event was also aimed at eradicating negative perceptions about the police and rather develop new communication channels that will benefit every resident of the community.
It was noted that police and the community are to work together efficiently as they are the eyes and ears and provide valuable information when solving various cases.
“This was a very special and unique day for every member of the station, whether present or absent. With the kind of job we are doing and all the dangers we are exposed to daily, we need spiritual intervention more than ever before. The ambushing of police officers by ruthless criminals can not be the government’s responsibility to stop, but all sectors of the community must play their respective roles. Today we are dealing with criminals, some of whom are possessed by demons or evil spirits, therefore as normal human beings we cannot win single-handedly, but we believe that God will fight and win the battle for us,” Sibiya concluded.
For Krugersdorp police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale the event was a reminder that waking up each morning to go to a dangerous job and later returning home safely is not their own doing, but rather the protection of God.

“Thank you to pastor Irene who is known to grace our cluster with a word of God and prayer which gives us hope. No matter what we may experience in our work or personal lives, we must always look up to the Lord for guidance and he will strengthen our faith and he will never forsake us. We are blessed to go home each day to our families and are thankful for God’s grace as many are killed and never get to say goodbye to loved one,” Mashale concluded.
