Businessman’s murder case a dead end?

All a distraught son wants is an update about his father's murder case.

The son of the slain businessman, Michael Danker, is desperately seeking answers as the case seems to have reached a dead end.

Initial article: Man found on his doorstep with gunshot wound

Jarrod Danker decided to lodge a complaint after experiencing a lack of communication by police following the murder of his father at his home in Copperhouse Road in Nooitgedacht, Muldersdrift on 12 September.

“I had to open my dad’s house for the forensic detectives to enter as there was reason to believe that my father might be dead inside the house. Later during the day his body was moved to the outside patio. With the chemicals we found, it looked like blood was cleaned up in the TV room, which made our suspicions valid,” Jarrod explained to the News.

He expressed his concerns to the News after the many failed attempts to contact the lead detective on his father’s case.

“Each and every time I tried to call, he is apparently in court and will contact me when he comes out. He never returns my calls to provide my family and I with the information that I feel we are entitle to. As a result of this lack of communication from him, I ended up contacting a fellow captain at the police station.”

It is believed the captain understood Jarrod’s frustration and later apologised for the lack of communication and promised to return his call within two days with an update of the case.

Two weeks later, still no word has been received.

“It has now been three months since I have last made contact with the officers and they have still not yet returned any calls or messages.”

On 5 February, which would have been Michael’s birthday, his son contacted the captain for feedback, again.

“I expressed my frustrations and shared with him, that today would of been my father’s birthday and I would really appreciate some information. The captain then replied that he does not deal with personal matters such as my father’s birthday.”

Jarrod explained to the News that he was simply asking for an update about his father’s case as he has not yet been informed of any developments regarding the case since the police forensic detectives were last on the scene on 14 September last year.

The News tried in vain to contact the Muldersdrift Police Station Commander regarding the complaints lodged by Jarrod regarding his father’s ongoing murder investigation, however, telephone calls remain unanswered.

An email request for comment has been sent to the spokesperson.

The News will continue to pursue Muldersdrift police for comment and once it has been received, will it be published.
