All hell broke loose opposite Bob van Reenen Stadium in an alleged mob justice incident earlier today.
It is believed that somewhat 40 people where spotted fighting on the corner of Pretoria Street and Paardekraal Road at around 11am this morning.
An ER24 paramedic who drove past the scene quickly called for back up when he saw what was about to turn into a chaotic scene.
The Community Policing Forums (CPF) of Sector 3 and 4 were deployed to the scene where they helped blocked off both roads leading to the open field opposite the stadium.
Next followed Mogale City’s Disaster Management unit and police members who quickly jumped in to stop the chaos and control the crowd.
A group of people allegedly attacked one person by throwing stones at him in the storm water ditch which runs behind President Square.
An eyewitness on the scene told the News that on arrival at the scene, he saw people in red t-shirts attacking the victim and has reason to believe this attack may be connected to illegal miners known as the Zama-Zama’s.
Another unconfirmed rumour suggests the victim was planning to hijack a vehicle when bystanders jumped in to stop him.
However, a reliable source within the police informed the News that this attack was related to taxi violence.
This is the second mob justice incident in Krugersdorp in less than a week.
The victim was treated for injuries sustained during the attack in an ER24 ambulance.
