Beware: pickpockets strike again at Home Affairs
Another resident warns of attempted pick pocketing after he was cornered and intimidated next to the Mogale City Home Affairs office in Commissioner Street.
Yet another concerned resident who nearly fell victim to pick pockets next to Home Affairs shared his experience on Facebook.
The News previously reported on three incidents where men approached victims and casually pickpocket them. One such incident saw the suspect arrested by police.
After nearly becoming another victim, Marco Schubert decided to warn Krugersdorpers on Facebook. He said people should be vigilant when getting into their cars.
“I put my boys in their car chairs, walked around to the driver’s door and was stopped by a male. He asked me two questions while I remotely locked my doors and put my hands in my pockets,” he said.
Marco said he could see something was dodgy and added that his children were in the car.
“He then grabbed the front of my belt and reached for my pocket and asked me ‘can you fight this?’. I panicked and pulled out my knife from my pocket. He looked at me and at the knife and then casually walked away,” Marco explained.
The News asked police why these suspects are not apprehended. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, said that if a case is not opened at the station, there is not much for the police to work with.
“This could have gotten ugly. So be careful when you are at Home Affairs. The car guards there mean nothing,” he said.
