This year the children were surprised with a very special visit from the Roodepoort Police’s K9 unit who presented a special dog show on the field.

Another surprise, even to the organisers of the event, was another special visit from the Mogale City Emergency Management Services personnel in a fire truck.

The crowd cheered as the truck along with the police vehicles entered the field by means of emergency lights and sirens.

Ten life-size cartoon characters entertained the crowd of egg-cited children who could not wait a single moment longer to sink their teeth into the chocolate and marshmallow delights.

On the word go, somewhat 800 children from Krugersdorp swept the field and picked up 25 000 Easter eggs which were collected by the Real Life Church.

The children were equipped each with a plastic bag which they quickly filled with chocolate delights as their parents stood on the side of the field cheering them on.

Afterwards the children had the opportunity to meet the unsung heroes of Krugersdorp as they stood in rows to take photos with the Emergency Management personnel and police.

Some children witnessed how a professional police dog plays catch, as the K9 unit boasted with their well trained dogs.

“Thank you so much to each and every person who made this event possible. For each and every donated egg and volunteers from the church who helped with the planning and executing of the event. Thank you so much to the police and fire fighters who joined us on this very special day,” Zelda Wood from the church, said.
