Local organisation needs a lifeline

Playing golf could relieve this organisation's financial stress and serve as a lifeline.

An organisation which is now in desperate need, is calling upon the community of Krugersdorp to be their lifeline.

The Krugersdorp Golf Club is hosting a Fundraising Golf Day challenge in aid of LifeLine West Rand.

LifeLine West Rand was established in 1977 and is affiliated to LifeLine South Africa which in turn is affiliated to LifeLine International.

Originally the organisation focused on telephonic counselling but has since diversified its programmes to cover three specific areas of focus.

They offer emotional support by means of incorporating counselling, awareness and education, support and referral services in the areas in emotional distress, HIV/ Aids, gender, trauma, victim empowerment and suicides just to name a few.

Their Community Engagement programmes focus on mobilising and empowering local volunteers to engage to communities in active dialogue around their own issues.

LifeLine’s existence has traditionally depended on the partnership with local communities, funds, donors and partner organisations.

Sadly the organisation has suffered under the ever declining state of the current economy and has since adopted their work shifts at their branch to keep their heads above water.

Instead of retrenching, the workers have decided to work in shifts on certain days of the week to accommodate everyone and keep the LifeLine ship at sail.

To help alleviate their financial stress, help support the golf day at the Krugersdorp Golf Club on 19 April from 11.30am.
