Police members in the West Rand Police Cluster, which consists of 13 police stations ranging from Muldersdrift to Wedela (Merafong City), arrested a total 387 suspects last week.
These incidents included the arrest of an alleged murderer, a 34-year-old suspect of Munsieville.
The arrest follows after the suspect allegedly had a fight with the deceased who was hit with unknown object on the head last week.
Other crimes of which arrests were made included house robbery, armed robbery, business robbery, kidnapping, fraud, rape, pointing of firearm, murder, car hijacking, shoplifting, theft, housebreaking, possession of dangerous weapons, possession of stolen property and possession of drugs.
A number of operations were also held during the week were traffic officers took part and arrested suspects for driving under the influence of alcohol.
“The West Rand Cluster Commander Major General Anna Mateisi indicated that the successes are due to the perseverance and dedication of members within the cluster. She has expressed her satisfaction with the positive actions against crimes in the cluster and applauds the community for working hand in hand with the police in fighting crime for a safer community. Operations by police officers in the sectors and foot patrols around town have also contributed to the increase in visibility of police and successful arrests. Mateisi applauds the members for their commitment towards law enforcement and their efforts in bringing perpetrators to justice,” Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale said.
