Man killing another surrenders to police

The man has already appeared in court and an investigation is pending.

A man handed himself over to police after murdering a 40-year-old man at the Joe Slovo informal settlement in Muldersdrift, police said.

On Saturday (23 April) he suspect allegedly stabbed the man in his upper body. Paramedics later certified him dead.

“A manhunt was launched after police had discovered that the suspect had fled the scene,” said police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya.

At around 8.30am, the 31-year-old suspect surrendered himself to Muldersdrift Police.

“He was charged and briefly appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court,” he said.

Police said the motive for the crime is unknown and that an investigation is still under way.
