Renowned chef joins hotel group

“I am excited to join the Kloofzicht Lodge team and to have the opportunity to share my passion for great food."

Guvon Hotels & Spas is excited to announce the appointment of Chef Chris Tustian as the new Head Chef at Kloofzicht Lodge & Spa in Magaliesburg.

Chef Chris was born into a family of chefs and restaurateurs, and has been fascinated by and obsessed with the way food reaches the cutting board and how it is reflected on the plate and palate from a very young age.

He completed his formal training at North Oxfordshire College, which made it possible for him to work and gain experience in various five-star and Michelin Star restaurants, such as Chateau de Montcaud in France, Gravetye Manor and Bovey Castle in the United Kingdom, and more recently in South Africa as head chef of Dish at Le Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands, executive chef at Budmarsh Lodge in Magaliesburg, and executive chef at Roots Restaurant in Kromdraai.

With over 18 years’ experience in the hospitality and restaurant industries, Chris combines expertise with a true passion for the culinary arts and new culinary ideas to give diners a new taste experience. He has a passion for producing food from raw and local produce, using nothing but the finest ingredients. His favorite ingredient remains fresh herbs.

“We are delighted to welcome Chef Chris to our culinary team. With his wealth of knowledge and expertise, he will not only bring his new dishes with his own creative twist to please the palates of all our guests, he will also bring a lot of enthusiasm and inspiration to our team,” Mano Sequire, General Manager of Kloofzicht Lodge & Spa said.

In his new capacity, Chef Chris will be overseeing all the culinary operations at Kloofzicht. He will showcase his extensive knowledge of food preparation with the best quality ingredients and contemporary cuisines and express his talent and passion, thus enhancing the dining experience for all guests.

“I am excited to join the Kloofzicht Lodge team and to have the opportunity to share my passion for great food and an excellent dining experience,” Chris said.

Having heard that, one thing is sure – the new chef will heat things up by bringing his culinary creativity to the menus throughout the hotel and providing a delightful experience to its guests.
