Residents urged not to worry over missing Mogale City payments

Unreflected municipal balances stem from a recent system transition between financial institutions.

Residents who made payments into Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) old bank account may notice these amounts are not reflected on their latest statements.

MCLM’s Standard Bank account was deactivated on July 31, and the municipality has since transitioned to an Absa account. MCLM assistant manager for Media and PR Refilwe Mahlangu said residents who made payments to the old account from August 24 will not see them on recent municipal statements.

This is due to MCLM only receiving the payment file from the bank after September 11.

“Consequently, these payments were allocated to customer accounts after the latest statements had already been generated. Don’t be concerned if a recent payment does not appear on your statement. The affected payments have since been allocated to the relevant customer accounts,” Mahlangu said.
