Woman tries to douse house fire with bucket
No one was injured in this morning's house fire in Wentworth Park.
Residents of Timber Street, Wentworth Park, gathered in the street and some even helped out as one of their neighbours’ house was on fire.
A neighbour, who was on his way to drop of his child at school, drove past the burning house around 7am this morning.
He then stopped at the property after he noticed a woman with a bucket trying to put out the fire.
The neighbour then quickly jumped in and managed to get the hosepipe from her next door neighbour and started extinguishing the burning house with the help of a Community Policing Forum (CPF) first-aid responder.
At this point the flames had already reached another room and smoke was seen coming through the roof.
Sector 4’s CPF reacted within minutes, followed by the local authorities and municipal emergency management services.
The fire and smoke were brought under the control by firefighters on the scene who took over from the neighbour.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.
Fortunately no one was injured during the incident.
