Pupils turn waste in to wacky fashion

Curro pupils strutted their stuff on the catwalk with their wacky fashion sense.

A Practical Art assessment turned into a fully fledged fashion show at Curro School recently.

The Grade 8 pupils had to design an outfit for their Practical Art Assessment this term which saw the pupils making their outfits from various recyclable material as part of the Going Green theme.

Creativity was definitely the order of the day in the Wacky Waste Fashion Show where pupils showcased their unique designs in the assembly hall last month.

“They made us aware of how recyclable materials can most certainly be of good use,” Hester du Plessis, of the school, said.

The audience, which was made up by Grade 1 to 7 pupils, could not contain their excitement as they became aware of all the various recyclable materials used.

Newspapers, tissue paper and plastic were just some of the materials used by the creative pupils of Curro.

Megan-Sky Moffatt took the third place while Chaume Grobler took a second place and Zanil Laloo was crowned as the overall winner of the project.

“A big thank you to Mrs Jordaan and the Grade 8’s for an enjoyable and interesting Green Wacky Waste Fashion Show,” Hester said.
