Sector 8 Community Policing Forum patrollers and police rushed to house in Hartford Street last night after an urgent call-out was made.
CPF along with police responded after a loud gunshot was heard by concerned neighbours after 8pm on 25 May.
On arrival at the property, CPF members investigated the matter and found the owner of the house had shot one of his dogs, a boerbul, dead.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was called to the premises to remove the body of the dog.
It is believed that the dog wanted to bite the owner’s wife when he shot the dog, five times, in the house.
The details of the incident are still unclear at this stage, and police are still investigating.
