Reckless driver arrested

A 68-year-old man was arrested after a hit-and-run incident in Luipaard Street.

Last week police were called to a scene in Luipaard Street after a motorist drove over a man on a bicycle.

“Upon their arrival police were informed that the motorist who drove over a man on a bicycle failed to stop to investigate and just continued driving,” Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale.

Krugersdorp police arrested a 68-year-old male for reckless and/ or negligent driving on 23 June.

“Community members followed the motorist until he was apprehended. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.”

Krugersdorp Police Station Commander, Brigadier Baloyi thanked the community for working hand in hand with the police to ensure that those who commit crime are apprehended.
