[PICS] A BetterLife for Jack Cotton

The BetterLife Group held a competition, where the winner received R100 000 for the charity of their choice.

The BetterLife Home Loans Group recently held a Dream for Change competition, with the winner to receive R100 000 for the charity of their choice.

Febe von Wielligh entered the competition, her dream being to help the elderly, particularly those in a government retirement village in Krugersdorp, by supplying them with enough food and blankets for the winter.

She won the competition, and used the money to buy groceries and blankets, and supply a meal to the elderly residents of the President and Jack Cotton flats.

Anna van Staden, an 80-year-old resident of Jack Cotton, could not stop expressing her gratitude, repeatedly saying, “I say thank you to the Lord, and thank you to everyone involved. I am so grateful”.

Joey Smith, another resident, said it was such an exciting day that she just wanted to cry. She added that a lot of the residents have been forgotten, and have very little done for them.

“When you think about it, R600 is not a lot of money for groceries. But for these people, it is more than they could have imagined,” Febe said.
