Logwood Village, a home for the intellectually impaired, hosted its annual spring dance on Saturday, 3 September to celebrate its residents’ incredible rhythm and spirit.
More than 90 beautifully dressed residents attended the event in their decorated hall with style.
Jean Wolhuter, director of the home, says the residents have very good rhythm and absolutely love to dance.
“We try to make Logwood a home from home,” Jean said. “The residents build up confidence and joy when we take care of them.”

Some residents where shy at first, but once their friends invited them onto the dance floor there was no stopping them from dancing their hearts out.
Every now and then a circle would form and residents cheered as those in the middle impressed the crowd with unique dance moves. The residents also formed a train that circled the room multiple times.
Bonita Bondesio, sports and activities coordinator saysthe villagehas a residents’ committee which is selected by the residents themselves. Ronell Sprong, parent of one of the residents arranged the ball and did a great deal to meet the residents’ expectations on a perfect event.
“This year they chose to have a dance to celebrate their unique talents, and boy, was it fun!” Bonita said.
