If it comes from the heart, it is worth doing

The business of a born and bred Krugersdorper celebrates its 50th birthday on 1 October.

In the centre of the hustle and bustle of Krugersdorp, is a quiet little office that belongs to Sneag and Associates. Few would know that after 50 years, this business is still growing strong.

Born and bred in Krugersdorp, Brian Sneag attended Krugersdorp Town School and Krugersdorp High School. After working for an optometrist in Pretoria for six months, Brian decided that his heart belonged in Krugersdorp, and so he moved back to open his own practice.

He was President of the South African Optometric Association for two terms, Chairperson of the Health Professions Council of South Africa for five years and an ombudsman for the South African Optometric Association for 12 years.

“I enjoy my profession, I enjoy helping people. I believe that if it comes from the heart, it is worth doing,” Brian said.

Although he is very modest about his contribution to the community, we found out that he does his ‘little bit’ to give back to the community, and has received the Melvin Jones Award from the Lions Club and the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Rotary Club, to name but a few.

Brian is passionate about helping people and giving back to the community, but believes that you should do it because it comes from the heart, not because you want it published in the newspaper.

So how will he be celebrating this milestone? It’s business as usual for the practice. “It is just another day, but everyone is welcome to come and say hello and have a cup of coffee.”

The practice will continue to provide professional and caring service for many years to come, according to Brian.
