Car seats a necessity – 13 collected for campaign

Krugersdorpers can still donate car seats to the Car Seats for Kids campaign.

Car seats are a necessary road safety measurement for every parent who travels with their children, which is why Imperial Select held a Car Seats for Kids event at Cradlestone Mall where community members were urged to donate their used car seats to the cause.

“A car seat is not a luxury, it is a necessity; therefore it is our mission to use every avenue available to drive awareness of the campaign and encourage consumers to donate their used car seats.

This will give numbers of children the gift of safety this Transport Month,” Imperial’s Group Marketer, Niki Cronje told the News on Monday, 17 October.

The campaign, launched just in time for National Transport Month, is now in its fifth year and runs across Gauteng, Tshwane, Limpopo, North West and Mpumalanga. It is aimed at educating parents about the importance of buckling their children up and doing it correctly.

Yesterday, car seat collectors Tshepo Masenkane and Mandlenkosi Ntombela were at the Mall from 7am to 4pm in a bid to collect as many car seats as possible.

“The reaction we received from the community was positive – they welcomed us and we are glad to be part of such a good initiative,” said Tshepo.

He said that if people had known about the campaign earlier or if donation days were during the weekend then they would have received more support than they did. Thirteen car seats were donated.

If you did not get a chance to donate your used car seat, there is still time to do so.

“People can continue donating at any Kia, Renault or Hyundai dealership and we will collect them from there,” said Tshepo.

“To the people who donated, we would like to say that this means a lot and it is appreciated. This shows that people care about child safety and we urge others to please work hand-in-hand with us to promote road safety,” Tshepo told the News.
