Foam adventures in aid of charity
While the winners aimed to be the first to break through the foam barrier and claim their prizes, the others only wished to reach the finish-line to start throwing balls of weightless bubbles at each other.

UniCollege Krugersdorp hosted its annual foam fest fun run on Saturday, 22 October – and boy was it fun for everyone! Runners, young and old, ended their 5km race by running through a tent filled, head high, with ice-cold foam.
While the winners aimed to be the first to break through the foam barrier and claim their prizes, the others only wished to reach the finish-line to start throwing balls of weightless bubbles at each other.
Rodney Robinson was the first to run through the wall of foam and was named overall winner of the race with a finishing time of 18.32 minutes. He was followed by Michelle Broodryk, who finished in 27.38 minutes and was awarded first place in the women’s category. Lelanie Roodt was the first U/16 runner to cross the finish line, in a time of 20.22 minutes.
The rest of the competitors were hot on their heels and soon the foam tent was filled with playful children who could not resist the white wall of bubbles.
There was a total of 219 runners and a total of R6 630 was raised.
Each year UniCollege chooses a charity to donate the money they raised to. This year they chose the South African Guide Dog Association as beneficiary and the money was handed over to them.
