It is believed the vehicles collided at approximately 5.40pm when a bakkie swerved to avoid another vehicle and collided with a car. The damage to the vehicles suggests that the vehicles almost collided head on, but in fact they merely nicked each other. This resulted in a collision.

The injured passenger sustained serious injuries, including rib and pelvic fractures. A Netcare 911 ambulance transported the patient to Netcare Pinehaven hospital for urgent medical care.

The remaining six people involved in the collision only sustained moderate to minor injuries.
