“Builder ripped me off!’

Patrick Rasego says the people he contracted to renovate his home have now spent more than a year building yet the house is not complete.

When Patrick Rasego retired from work, he used his savings to make improvements to his home. The father of two believed that his family would spend Christmas inside a bigger and better house but that did not happen.

Since improvements on his home began last year in August and are still not complete, Patrick and his family are looking at spending yet another Christmas inside the incomplete house.

The Rasegos cannot even use their kitchen sink because the plumbing has not been completed.

“The contractors asked me for a deposit and by the end of 2015 I had paid them the entire sum that they charged for the renovations,” said Patrick.

Patrick complained that JKTT Construction and Projects have left his house with an incomplete garage, veranda and plumbing system.

“We just want them to complete everything, especially the plumbing, because we can’t even use the toilet or the kitchen sink properly,” Patrick told the News. Although they have tried speaking to the owner of the construction company, the company moved offices from Krugersdorp to Roodeport without notifying them and they say they have not spoken to them since June 2015.

“Samuel Makokoe is the marketing director of the company and we have dealt with him from the beginning and now when we call him he says that he is in a meeting and will call us back but he never does, so we feel scammed,” said Patrick.

Samuel admitted to leaving the house incomplete.

“I sent our plumber Thabo to fix the plumbing last week but it was raining heavily, so he could not go. My mistake was that I did not know I was rebuilding the entire house instead of just doing renovations.”

After numerous calls to Samuel, he promised to complete his work at the house but has failed to live up to his promise to date.
