Boy drowns in Coronation Dam

The boy and his friends were busy taking a dip in the Dam.

A 14-year-old boy has drowned at Coronation Dam this afternoon at about 4pm.

The boy and his friends walked from his home in Sinqobile, Kagiso, to take a swim in the dam.

Details that led to the boy’s drowning is still unclear, but information gathered from the scene suggest that the boy was playing in the dam when he lost his footing resulting in him sinking into the dam and drowning.

Authorities, Netcare 911 and the fire brigade’s search and rescue are currently on the scene and an emergency diver is trying to retrieve the boy’s body.
