My dog is sick, what now?

Monitor your dog closely.

We all tend to panic when our dogs suddenly do not feel well. Veterinary costs are high and you cannot always afford to take your dog to see a vet.

The best possible solution when your dog has diarrhea and vomits is to withhold food and give it lots of water. Also limit also your dog’s playtime and monitor him closely.

If you need to apply CPR, make sure it is done when you cannot feel or hear the dog’s heartbeat. Once the dog stops breathing the heart will go into cardiac arrest and cease beating.

How to prepare your dog for CPR:

• Place the dog on a flat surface with his right side against the surface

• Put one of your palms on the dog’s rib cage and put your other palm on top of it

• Press the rib cage in a downward motion

• Compress the chest for a count of one and then let go for a count of one

• Breathe into the dog’s nose once for every five compressions that are done

• Continue performing CPR until the dog begins to breathe and has a steady pulse

Visit your veterinarian as soon as one of the following occurs:

• Unconsciousness

• Profuse bleeding

• Vomiting and diarrhoea

• Broken bones

• Breathing difficulties

• Seizures that don’t stop within one minute

• Unable to urinate or not producing urine

• Large swellings around the face, eyes or throat

Keep those furry friends happy and healthy!
