Tony Botha is the first male principal in the history of St Ursula’s School.
He is a man of many talents. He was previously the well-known art teacher at school, but decided to apply for the position of principal as soon as it became available.
Tony started teaching at St Ursula’s in July 2016. He was previously involved in many different environments such as business management, and he even wrote a few books. He believes that he can use all of his background to run the school in the best possible way.
During the News’ visit at the school, Tony showed our journalist, Nadine Maré, around the school property and highlighted the school’s magnificent historical building. The school will be 115 years old this year, making it the second oldest school in Krugersdorp.
Tony has lots of plans and goals set for the school, and plans to fill the school up.
“I want to grow in areas which are important, such as the academic arena, the spiritual side and the school’s development,” he said.
The school has also opened its doors to boys this year – another first for them. Twenty-two boys have kicked off their matric year and outnumber the girls, of which there are only 16.
Tony told the News that the school still has openings for more learners to apply.
