Paper, tools, photos … it’s time for scrap-booking!
The event was a non-profit event to promote the love of this amazing hobby.
St Ursula’s High School recently saw 50 local women all eager and excited to enjoy a full day of scrap-booking without interruptions.

The very first National Scrapbooking Day was held country-wide on 28 January. Twenty-three areas took part and over 1 350 women attended the event.
According to Michelle van Wyk from I-Scrap, the aim of the day was to get every single scrapbooker together in one place. The event was a non-profit event to promote the love of this amazing hobby. The theme for the day was crazy hats and the ladies went all out to create amazing hats. There was amazing food and lots of tutorials were demonstrated by Michelle, Elsie Vos from De Art Studio, and Linn Hill from Crafty Corner.

“Scrapbooking is more than just a hobby. It is a way to show your feelings and emotions, on paper,” said Ria Viljoen.
The women all said that they used photos of their family, friends, children and even nature in their scrapbooking. They see scrapbooking as a legacy that is being left behind and a memory that will never fade.
Scrapbooking can be a very expensive hobby but another scrapbooker, Heloise Holmes, told the News that you can do it in a cheaper way if you are creative.
The women all felt that anybody can participate in scrapbooking and that techniques are learnt by mixing and matching materials. Lara Christoph told the News that once you start scrapbooking you will struggle to stay away from your photos.

The event will be even bigger and better in future, and they are all already look forward to it .
