Healthy lifestyle, healthy you!
Looking after your general health also means keeping your mind fit.
A healthy, happy mind can contribute to good health.
Having a healthy lifestyle is important because it helps you stay fit, boosts your energy, improves your mood, combats disease and helps you to live a long, healthy life.
February is National Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Month. ER24 is therefore encouraging people to eat wisely, exercise and get sufficient rest.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Looking after your general health also means keeping your mind fit.
Healthy habits prevent diseases such as high blood pressure, strokes, depression, diabetes, arthritis and certain types of cancer. An active lifestyle also improves muscle strength, which gives a person more energy.
Here are some ways to achieve a healthy lifestyle:
• Get sufficient exercise
• Get sufficient rest – about eight hours every night
• Eat healthier
• Find time to relax
• Pick a hobby that you enjoy
Paramedic Alan Rudnicki said having a hobby can also shift your focus and help you to relax your mind. “I find that it is an escape from the rush of the emergency services,” he said.
Remember that a healthy diet and exercise always work well together. Not only does it improve energy, it decreases stress levels as well.
ER24’s emergency service can be called 24 hours a day on 084 124 for any medical emergency.
