Cots from Curro to Cradle

During the second term Curro contributed various products including five cots, soup, Purity foods, nappies, wet wipes, bottles, formula and cream to this project.

When having a baby, one can expect to be confronted with an endless list of necessities, from nappies and clothes to bottles and formula.

And sometimes, the path for these little ones isn’t always as easy as one would hope and they end up starting their journey in life at a charity organisation, such as The Cradle of Hope.

This is why Curro Krugersdorp Independent School came up with the initiative of helping some of these babies in need.

“After finishing the preparations for our pre-school we found that we had a few baby cots left, and we just thought, why not start an entire baby project among our schools?” said Operational Head, Samantha Smit.

During the second term Curro’s pre-, primary- and secondary schools contributed various products including five cots, soup, Purity foods, nappies, wet wipes, bottles, formula and cream, among many other things, to this project.

On Tuesday, 1 August, the Cradle of Hope was more than thrilled to receive five cots and roughly ten bags of necessities when Samantha and two Grade 9 learners, Shaina Roodt and Nomvula Chasakara paid a visit.

Currently the Cradle of Hope is the temporary home of two babies; one one-year-old and one 10-month-old. They are expecting two more mothers with their babies by the end of this week.

“We are thrilled to have been able to help this charity organisation, and we are looking forward to helping the rest of the community in need in future,” Samantha said.

According to Jesmay Aslitt, who lives at the Cradle of Hope, the cots will be used at their new extension – The Bright One – in Nellie Street as soon as it is ready.

Curro also donated five cots and multiple bags of necessities to Just In Time Baby Sanctuary in Randfontein.
