An eyewitness told police they had noticed a group of men chasing the man before catching him and severely assaulting him. They stabbed him severally times in his upper body before fleeing the scene.

He was certified dead by paramedics later that morning.

Police launched a manhunt for the group of men and information from the community helped them to trace the suspects.

“For people to have no respect for life and take the law into their hands is unacceptable, and they will face the full might of the law,” said Brigadier Sipho Ngubane, commander of the Kagiso Police Station as a warning to others who think about murdering.

A case of murder was opened against the suspects at the Kagiso Police Station and the suspects will appear in court soon.
