Domestic worker attacked at work in Kenmare
After the incident the Krugersdorp Police sent out a statement saying that domestic workers need to be alert to people driving around their areas for no reason.
A shocked domestic worker opened a case of house robbery on Thursday, 17 August at the Krugersdorp Police Station, after she was attacked by six men in the house she was working in.
The domestic worker was in the house in Kenmare at about 1pm that day when she heard the gate bell ringing.
She went outside to inquire.
As she approached the gate, she noticed a number of unknown men sitting in a car at the gate. They told her they were looking for a mechanic in the area. One of the suspects suddenly jumped out of the car and over the gate.
He threatened the domestic worker and told her to open the gate for the other suspects.

Five more suspects drove into the yard and entered the house. The suspects stole jewellery and a television before fleeing the scene in their car. No injuries were reported.
After the incident, the Krugersdorp Police sent out a statement saying they “wished to sensitise domestic workers to be alert of people driving around their areas for no reason. It is advised not to open any gate for people who allege that they were sent by their employers to fix something in the house. If they notice any suspicious movement, they must immediately call the police,” said Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police.
“Rather stay inside the house where you are protected. Do not go out of the house to speak to anyone who you don’t know.
It makes you an easy target,” added Brigadier Patrick Baloyi, the commander of the Krugersdorp Police Station.
