Harley Hogs break hardcore stigma
With a cold front rolling in, they rolled out, knowing that they kept Krugersdorp warm.
The Clearwater Harley Davidson Hogs is a group of very special motorcyclists. Even though their Harleys roar with the sound of a blazing storm’s thunder, their intentions are not as brutal as the clichéd biker stigma would have you think.
Recently the Old Hogs, made up predominantly of intrepid gentlemen who appear to have nothing better to do on Wednesdays, proved how big their hearts are when they donated more than 100 blankets to The Bethany House Trust, and with a cold front rolling in, they rolled out, knowing they kept some of Krugersdorp’s vulnerable warm.

These blankets were purchased by members of the Old Hogs as part of the recent K.I.D.S. blanket run and were very happily and gratefully received by the staff of Bethany House.
Derick Brits, a member of the Old Hogs who led this procession and very kindly arranged for his driver and a bakkie to carry the blankets, felt an overwhelming need, once in sight of the venue, to go right, left and right again as part of the ritual of a rolling thunder entrance, alarming most of the neighbourhood in the process.

Janet Davidson, operations manager of Bethany House said the Hogs proved to them that the bikers’ bad reputation is just a stereotype people choose to agree with.
“The Hogs brought a smile to my face when they arrived to drop off the blankets. Not only were the blankets for our different organisations a huge blessing, but their banter was filled with fun. Bikers have such a bad reputation, but these men and women definitely don’t deserve it. They have generous, warm hearts and we thank them for all that they have done for us,” said Janet.
