[FOLLOW UP] CPF responds to backlash from recent school search
The CPF is also busy with an investigation to find out if any of their patrollers raised their voices unnecessarily to control the students.
After local Community Policing Forum (CPF) members were heavily criticised by upset parents about the way a search at Nic Diederichs Technical High School was conducted recently, their spokesperson issued a statement to explain their side of the matter.
“The CPF was asked by police to help with a special operation at a school in accordance with the Police Act 68 of 1995,” said Piet Sparks, spokesperson for the sector.

“CPF members don’t know which school they will be going to until the last moment. CPF members helped the police to search the children under the supervision of the teachers.”
He said all items that were confiscated from the children were handed over to police.
Spark said the CPF is also busy with an investigation to find out if any of their patrollers raised their voices unnecessarily in order to control the students.
“The CPF would, however, like to thank the teachers and most of the children for their cooperation and positive attitude during these operations. The police and CPF care for our children and community and only want to create a safe environment for us all to live in.”
