Biker dies on Spring Day in Robert Broom crash

The biker was on his way to work when the tragic accident happened.

A young man lost his life in a collision early on Spring Morning, 1 September. It is believed he was on his way to work on his motorcycle when the collision occurred.

A driver coming from Bell Avenue stopped at the Robert Broom Drive intersection near the Watch Tower Society. Other motorists gave her space to move between them so she could head uphill towards the shopping centre.

The Roodepoort Forensic Pathology Services loaded the man into their vehicle to transport him to the mortuary.

The biker was allegedly in the lane she wanted to merge with and the two collided. A police investigation will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Krugersdorp Police members were on scene to investigate the incident and were assisted by Mogale City Traffic Police.

Eyewitnesses on scene said the traffic on Robert Broom Drive towards Roodekrans from Valley View Shopping Centre was not moving at all.

Various emergency services, including QRS, Help24 and ER24, were on scene. Unfortunately the man was declared dead soon after the collision.

Members of Sector 7 Community Police Forum were also on scene and assisted the Watchtower Society firemen with regulating the traffic while officials were taking statements and collecting evidence.

During the time the News journalist was on scene, more than 14 motorcycles passed the scene. It’s clear that Robert Broom Drive is a very busy road and officials urged motorists and motorcyclists to be extra careful when utilising it.
