Curro Krugersdorp has found a solution to the math problem they have, which is not among the learners, but among their parents who need to help with homework and whose memories might be a bit rusty.
In January, a group of parents went back to school, with each one taking a seat in Curro’s school hall. And so class started.

A mathematics parent workshop was hosted by the school with the aim of informing parents of current teaching methods and what the curriculum entails. Parents had the opportunity to meet the school’s mathematics department and teachers and to learn about the NumberSense programmes which teach the basic principles of the subject.
Grade 4 mathematics subject specialist, Sylvia Gurnell, presented the workshop, and provided parents with supplementary methods to support them in helping their children study at home.
Curro aims to host another of these workshops in the near future and hopes even more parents will join in, to help ease the stress that children face when learning difficult mathematical methods.
