After several motorists had contacted the News about the problem, Cosmopolitan Projects, the business advertising on the board was contacted for comment, and through them the marketing company who owned the billboard was contacted. Everyone acted very quickly, and within hours, the loose steel beam was temporarily fastened with rope until a team could be sent out to permanently affix the beam to the billboard once more.

Workers were dispatched to ensure that the sign is safe and secure. Photo: Submitted.

True to their word, SKP Media and Communications sent out workers a few days later and welded the beams to ensure that the one in question, and the rest of the sign, is secure.

A spokesperson for SKP said: “This damage was caused by a truck that bumped into our billboard on the overhead bridge, as per an eyewitness. On Saturday, the team, which included a qualified rope-access member, went on site to address the problem. The site is currently safe and the loose parts of the billboard were properly welded and reinstated.”
