Youth Day Concert

15 JUNE — Baagi Ba South Africa, in partnership with Mogale City and and the Kagiso Police’s Youth Desk are hosting the first-ever Gauteng Youth Concert against Human and Drug Trafficking. The event is sponsored by the Mogale City Speaker’s office and will be held in the Kagiso Chief Mogale Hall from 10am to 4pm as part of the youth month celebrations. There will be local artists performing, including dancers, singers and poets. For more information, contact Glory on 073 208 1742. Entrance is free.

Melville Koppies Nature Reserve Hike

16 JUNE — Join a three-hour guided hike through the Melville Koppies Nature Reserve, starting at 8.30am. You can park in the upper car park at Marks Parks on Judith Road, Emmarentia, opposite the entrance to the Koppies. Bus Tour with U3A

19 JUNE — Join the University of the 3rd Age West Rand on a bus trip to Midrand to an Aquaponic Farm. What is an aquaponics system? It’s a system of aquaculture in which the waste produced by farmed fish or other aquatic creatures supplies the nutrients for plants. The bus will depart from Ruimsig. Holiday Club

18–21 JUNE — The Real Life Church in Viljoen Street, Krugersdorp North is once again hosting its popular Holiday Club for Grade R to Grade 7 learners. It is going to be a great holiday experience. Horticultural Society Talk

26 JUNE — The Horticultural Society invites you to a talk by Suzette Madden on Succulents at The Floreum at Joburg’s Botanical Gardens, Olifants Road, Emmarentia. Please use the North entrance. The Garden Market and Tea Garden

29 JUNE — Looking for a great community event to attend? If so, make sure to visit The Garden Market and Tea Garden at 14 Starlight Avenue in Wilro Park (behind the Sterlig Retirement Home). What can you expect? Boerewors rolls, rotis, biryani, samoosas, cakes and toasted sandwiches at the Tea Garden, while butter, cheese, jams, pickles, olives, dates and all sorts will be on sale at the market. There will be a kids’ corner (a crafter will help kids to make something) with reflexology, neck and shoulder massages, jewellery, pens, crafts, clothing and baby goods.
