Emails and SMSes from Mogale City anger residents

A post on Facebook has residents fuming.

A post on the Krugersdorp Community Forum’s Facebook page about Mogale City requesting its clients to settle their accounts before 27 June has provoked some colourful comments from readers.

The Mogale City Local Municipality sent out emails and SMSes to its clients on 24 June requesting the following:

“Dear client. The end of June is the municipality’s financial year end. In order to finalise its financial records, Mogale City Local Municipality humbly requests all consumers to pay their municipal accounts on or before the 27th June 2019. Thank you for your cooperation.”

The post on Facebook is identical, and upset readers did not hold back their thoughts on the matter.

Marie Elizabeth Smith, who posted the message on the forum’s page, asked why it should be the residents’ problem if Mogale City is conducting its financial year end. She also made another valid point by asking where are residents, who only receive their salary after 27 June, are supposed to obtain funds to settle their monthly accounts.
